Our vibrant, progressive city has been my hometown for over 25 years, and while we face post pandemic challenges, the future holds such promise. I believe that if any city can come through this a more thriving and equitable community, Northampton can!
I will be a strong voice for Northampton as a welcoming, green community. We are known and loved for our artists and musicians, our unique shops and restaurants, our values and activism. Our excellent public schools and the simple quiet beauty of Western Massachusetts makes our city a desirable place to live and work. We need fresh ideas for drawing new business investment to our beautiful city.
My years of experience include working as a former Massachusetts chapter leader for Progressive Democrats of America, a national political action committee (PAC), and organizing for campaigns that champion Healthcare as a Human Right and the Green New Deal. I will listen, lead with compassion and work to build alliances.
I am a former board member of Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity. Habitat builds small, affordable homes in partnership with working families. I co-chaired Pioneer Valley Habitat’s Green Team, formed to advance the organization’s sustainable building practices. Northampton has been committed to expanding affordable housing, and we must do more to address housing insecurities in the community.
Many of us are discussing the report on Reimagining Safety, and I support the commission’s recommendations. We are in a time of national reckoning. Our city should be bold in advancing more equitable responses to public safety, reallocating a greater portion of scarce resources to services for our most vulnerable.
We have come so far since the darkest days of the pandemic, and this unprecedented time is an opportunity to better care for each other. Our residents and businesses are still recovering. In the coming months, we must all remain diligent about protecting our community. If you haven’t yet, please get vaccinated.
We are in this together! I look forward to talking with many of you as I campaign for your vote to represent Northampton, Florence and Leeds as Councilor At-Large. I have been honored to work with some of our city’s remarkable progressive leaders, and will work with great purpose for the future of our city.
